RB20DET in a Z31

Hey guys, I'm a 280 owner with a question for another ZX seller. He has a RH drive(Fairlady Z) imported from Japan with an RB20DET. Any info on this car? I thought they were all 3.0l sixes. Forgive me for asking this one, isn't the original engine a straight six in the Z31? Itold him I would try to help him sell the car.

if it's all original it's actually a 200ZR. they had a hood scoop, and no luxuries. manual crank windows, cloth seats. it's considered the most sporty model of the z31. if he really has one, thats awesome. i've never heard of one in the US before. and btw, the US z31 had a 3.0L v6.

He's asking $3500 for it as a parts car. It sounds like a greta opportunity for an enthusiast to get a rare Z. I wish I could afford it. I would imagine that most of the Z31 parts would fit the chassis. Short of the engine and rhd it looks just like any other Z31.

By the way, thanks for the info.

It was imported without a title. The car is in a state of disassembly right now but can be put back together. He's posted it on eBay as a 280zx Parts Car. Here's the item number 4605609516. I had the cash available I'd buy it to put the RB20 in my 280.

oh wow, a slicktop 2+2 200ZR. i'm almost certain its a 200ZR now that i've seen the pics, the manual crank windows give it away. dont see that every day. that would be a great restoration project. be sad to see it just hacked up for parts.

$3500 in the condition thats in? That's funny.

The car is a 200ZR. That motor is stock. The price is rediculous.
