Synthetic Tranny oil/HD Auto
Has anyone tried synthetic transmission oil in the Z auto tranny? I'm going to have mine rebuilt before it dies completely (the oil is getting burned after only around 1500 miles - the previous owner said it was 'rebuilt' but who knows what that means...). I've read that some trannys (mostly older designs) don't work right with synthetic - something about the gears not being able to grip enough because the synthetic oil lubricate too well. What about the rear end? I know they make Diff synthetic oil too... Any thoughts appreciated.
Also - has anybody rebuilt their auto tranny with performance parts - a heavy duty torque converter, clutches, ect? Do they make heavy duty or performance parts for the Auto? I'd like to put the best tranny in my Z that I can - and then change the oil religiously (15,000 interval) because the car has to last me a while
