i think i put the timing marks back in the right place.he book is real sketchy on the subject.though i will take any advice at this point.
Today i reset the distributor and it tried to turn start.but now nothing.i pluged the egr on the intake and exhaust also.i also took the liberty of running 2.5in. exhaust from the cat.how can you tell if the came is on the right stroke?is TDC really top dead center?
N E HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

Yes the idle is set by the throttle cable!
If you started the engine completely dri don't be reving it all up and everything for awhile let it sit if you can't get the idle just keep it at about 1k for awhile.
You changed an engine out! Im happy not many people would even attempt that (even plug and play) theres alot you can mess up! You got it cranked and running thats great though
If you hadn't gotten to even crank i would of suggested trying the starter usally when you have power to everything and you hear that hummming noise it means the starter eather needs beat on (bushings need changed) or has gone bad.
So props to you and keep up the good work someone is always here to help!

Actually the idle is not set by the cable. The cable is adjustable, but thats for cutting out slack on the line.
It's set by the idle control device.
It's on the driver side of the intake plenum. Look for the adjustment screw, it's the part that sticks out farthest to the driver side of the car.
