Unhappy Vg30et Rebuild

Were is the best place to find a master rebuild kit for an 85 vg30et? I have looked all around the internet and all I can find are re-ring kits, all of the master kits I have found are for the non turbo cars. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

None of the vendors listed have full rebuild kits, if I have to I will just order part by part, but I would much rather try to find an entire kit. Also, has anyone ever ordered anything from this site? http://www.enginepartsstore.com/serv...san+6+Cylinder
I am not sure how trustworthy it is. The kits are priced very decently, but I dont want to get gyped out of my cash.

take it to a machine shop, have the hone bumped through it, have everything cleaned, have them check all the clearances then if they find any problems you dont blow up your rebuilt motor. and i would put a rebuild kit together piece by piece. i would start out with total seal rings, clevite 77 bearings, gasket set and a new oil pump. it may cost more to do it this way, but atleast you will have piece of mind knowing that it was done to standard.

You think thats all I should replace to begin with? Just rings, bearings, gaskets and oil pump? Should I just leave the original pistons as long as there is nothing wrong with them?

as long as they are serviceable i see no point in pushing out over $150 for a new set. now thats just a few parts to get you started, you still would need things like a timing belt, cam and main seals....etc but it would be enough to get you started.

Yeah, I had planned on replacing most of the engine, but another question, you think I would really need new cams? I had planned on having the heads rebuilt but I didn't really think I would need to replace the cams. I know if the lobes are worn pretty bad I would have to but if they are ok I could just reuse them for now couldn't I?

Also, the engine I am rebuilding came from a car with an automatic transmission, but I am putting this engine into an 84 300zx with a manual transmission. My question is, when I order my oil pump, do I order it for an automatic tranny, or for a manual tranny. And another thing, you said to get "total seal" rings, I get 87mm rings for std bore, right? And how thick should they be?

JIS has been a place I've used in the past for complete rebuild kits for some of my other cars in the past. I've had nothing but good luck with their kits.

Thanks for all the help. I pulled the engine yesterday and disassembled today. Pleasingly enough, everything is ok. I'm just gonna put new bearings, rings and seals in and I think everything will be ok. Oh, and of coarse I sent the heads to the machine shop to be rebuilt. No pics of the teardown but I'll get some of the reassembly.
