I have been searching ebay for a vg30et and all the ones that come up have quite a few miles on them or they're on the other side of the U.S. and the owner wont ship it out. Where is a good place to buy one for cheap?

 

Check the local bone-yards. You may have some luck. Keep in mind that it will be nearly impossible to find a low mileage engine this old. In my mind, the more realistic approach is to rebuild. Then you know what you've got. Even a Jasper engine would be better than someone else's' problems. I sure as heck wouldn't buy a complete engine from an e-bay auction, and, expect anything less than a disaster.

Another scenario would be to purchase a complete z31 turbo car. That would eliminate the guess work about the engine, and, it'd be ready to ride. Just a thought.

 

Yup id go with rebuilding it, you can find them in yards around depending on where you live, I live in the east coast and found a place that is going to crush like 7 parted out Z's before that place moves, but one is complete and its a turbo so im getting that for the body parts and my cousin is taking the engine.

 

Im down in Austin Texas and have a 84 n/a with 134,k on it, I did a turbo swap last year for the hell of it. Ran good when it came out, I put the updated injectors on and a new water pump, needs new exhust studs n gasket, and t-belt. sold the distrubutor, still have the ECU (standard) you can slap a turbo on it compression is great. I'll let it go for cheap, need the stand back to rebuild the 2.8
