Gauges

Was it www.progauges.com?

Yes it was. Instructions said to take the stock a-pillar off, but then it would just look bad with the extra space, so what i did is cut in on the stock pillar so i can get my wires through and i just put this one over it. it was a fun project, and those gauges appealed to me since they turn black when the car is off...My scooby is getting some Defi amber, which do that opening ceremony thing when they swing from one side to another, just like the STI cluster, which i just purchased, and illumination matches perfect. The only bad thing about Defi is that a single gauge is like $280. So i am not sure if i should buy those just yet or if i should buy some rims for my future Z.

That's what I was afraid of. It sounds like Canyon may have hit the nail on the head when he said all of these are manufactured in the same place and distributed to different retailers. I'll probably wind up going with the autometer pod.
With the DEFI gauges, don't you need to buy the DEFI link in order to make any of the gauges work? Too rich for my blood.

yes you do.... but then it's gonna match my sti cluster perfect, and once ignition is on, all gauges are going to go from min to max and back....i just love it i am gonna replace my factory boost gauge and add EGT and oil press

z- we just had a game yesterday. we won it and we have won or conference.
this week is sectionals, and we have a pretty good chance of winning that, and then its an easy ride to semistate. the only problem we will have is our cross town rivals, which i havent been able to play both times this season, which pisses me off the most. god i hate havin a broken leg.

what does the stock temp gauge measure? oil temp? coolant temp?
also, out of all the temperature gauges, which would be a more important gauge, or rather, give better indication of an overheating engine? (oil, water, coolant, and egt are all i've read about so far).
call me paranoid for not trusting the factory temp gauge, but my last car was an orange 83 toyota corolla that always shows normal temp ... not to mention my other thread "My Engine Smokes!"

The factory temp gauge measures coolant temp. As far as which gauge would identify an overheating car best kinda depends on the situation. If you're driving the car real hard (spirited drives), the EGT would likely be best because you'd know right away when the internal cylinder temp is rising. However, say for example you split a radiator hose and starting spewing coolant....the coolant temp would probably be best because it would identify the problem sooner than the EGT would. Oil temp is nice to have with turbos. That way, if you don't have a turbo timer, then you'd know when the oil tempm has cooled so that you can safely shut off the car. IMO.
