trunk release

The lever you pull between the door and the drivers seat is the subject of my query. I took a look at the actaul trunk latch and it appears as if it is an electric release. So, my question is what kind of release is it as used from the drivers cabin? If it does go out, how do you fix it?

the hatch release lever is a mechanical, cable operated mechanism.
it isn't electrically operated. at least not from the manufacturer.

mine stopped working, all I did was unscrew the latch in the trunk and it fell down, i was looking at it for defects, saw none, bolted it back up, and it magically worked again. must of tesnioned the cable a little or something i dunno.

The one in my n/a works fine. But, when I was looking at the TT that I am picking up this weekend, I found out that it didn't work. I then opened up that panel in the trunk and took a quick look at it. I didn't spend too much time on it, but I did notice some kind of electrical wire connected to it. I didn't think it was electronic, but I finally decided that the wire was for the security system. When I pick it up this sunday I will investigate it further. I am sure that it is the same kind of line that is on bicycle brakes. In either case, I am sure that it will be any easy fix. Until then, I will just have to use my key.

the wire is the sensor that tells you that the hatch is open.
probably a dual use for the security system also.
