driver side wheel well sound

Hi all, I wondered if anyone can answer this question. I have a 90 non turbo and last month i noticed a strange "gurgling/sucking" sound coming from inside the driver side wheel well. I pulled the plastic liner out of the wheel well and found the source of the sound. it is a strange black box mounted up high inside the fender and there is a rubber tube hanging off it that when plugged by finger...the sound stops. I did not leave it plugged though because i have no idea what it goes to or if would effect my engine coolant or what not. I did not see any nipple or other place for the tube to plug onto. any ideas? thanks

Driver side?

It could be the winshield fluid box on the driver side, other than that not really sure? Pics would help.

box

well, it may not be a plastic box per-say, but it appears to be covered in plastic. I really think it is some sort of radiator over flow or a/c drip off thing, but i dont have a haines manual so i cant look it up. I also cant get to it or even see it very well w/o pulling the fender.

Did you check your radiator fluid level to see if it needs water, that would make gurgling sounds if it's low on water.

could it be those extra intake piping that us n/as could take out if we wanted. there could be a buildup of water in one of those. it ends right before the front of the wheel well
