HELP!! Radiator Suppport beam Cracked!!!

HELP!! Radiator Suppport beam Cracked!!!

Has anyone ever changed the lower radiator support beam before? Its the one that connects to the 2 tension rod brackets by the front stabilizer bar. Mines cracked hardcore and my front left tire shimmies at speeds over 60MPH BADLY!!!!....need help.. Someone said it needs to be welded in place. HELP HELP HELP>>>> mg: mg:

Yep, you'll need a welder and a new alignment. Make sure and have the welder guy weld in some straps (maybe 1/8" thick X at least 1" over each side) across the crack. If you just weld the existing crack closed, it'll crack again because all of that metal has been stressed from something. Somebody probably hit a pretty deep pothole or something. I had to do the same to my Ranchero. The tension rod mount became completely seperated from the frame.

I'll chime in one more time here...... If you buy a new lower radiator support, you will have to cut the old one out and weld in a new one. Even tho some butcher might have tried to fix the old one and failed, You can still find a good welder/fabricator to patch up the existing support for less money and ultimately make it stronger than new. that's my 22 cents..... :hpydance:

Yea, I was thinking of doing a patch job, but I decided to go with the new one. I dont really know any good welders/fabricators unless I pay for them. Gonna try and get it done this weekend.
