vibration while turning

So, I was sitting in the car port waiting for my car to cool down (no TT) and turned my steering wheel to the right, when I did this, the steering wheel vibrated. Did it a few other times and it does it whenever I turn my steering wheel to the right, just for one section of the turning radius. Anyone know what this is before I spend hours searching all over the interenet for it? Tahnks.

Do you have after market wheels and a spacer? If so, center the spacers and make sure your wheels are torqued down good.

sorry, it only does it when it's parked. It doesn't do it when it's driving, which is the weird thing. I do have aftermarket wheels, but no spacers.

Do you have a loose feel in the steering wheel when driving? I've had this issue with other cars and I've attributed it to wear between the rack and the pinion. Some racks have a adjusting screw that you can tighten a little to get rid of some of the slop. This may, or may not, be the cause of your problem.

That symptom is usually a sign that the rack and pinion is "binding" up. have you noticed any fluid leaks? Check around the bellows boots on the rack (inner tie rod area) and see if they are wet. Even if the rack doesn't leak, it can still have issues. Try flushing out the P/S fluid (many shops have a machine that does it and they charge about 40-50 dollars), and add some Lucas power steering additive to it. that stuff works miracles... Especially when added to new clean fluid. Bottom line, the P/S fluid is like any other vital fluid. It needs to be changed periodically to avoid premature wear and tear and the system. It's the single most "forgotten" fluid in the car too.

Don't forget our cars take ATF instead of PS fluid.

You could try a simple lubing of the rack. FSM shows the points to grease.

Riz is right, and that's a point I forgot to address. The ATF fluid is thinner than standard P/S fluid. That's for quicker response. The down side is that it doesn't protect as well. When you replace the fluid, I recommend using a semi-synthetic fluid like the (Cringing while typing it... sorry) Honda OEM fluid. I know the Lucas additive is pretty thick, but when added to the fluid it is diluted substantially. It won't make it so thick that it is harder on the pump (which is pretty stout compared to the rack) or make a real noticeable difference in steering effort. The most important thing is just to get the old nasty fluid out and get some good new fluid in there.

I do have a little bit of a loose feel in my steering. I'll have to try to give the fluid a good change and lube the rack. Rod, are you saying to use Honda OEM ATF with the lucas additive?

Yeah, but it's PS fluid not ATF fluid. It's what I always use and it has worked out great. Just try and get past the whole "Honda" thing
