Wheel size for auto x

Wheel size for auto x
I own a 91 TT and I plan to run at auto cross events often. Right now I have 16x7 on my car (I bought them before I knew much about cars and performance). I found some 17x9 wheels with +35 offset all around. Is this a good size as far as performance goes? Also, how "flush" will it sit with the fenders? (ex: stick out to far or sunken in?)

depends on how heavy they are...and more importantly what kind of tires you will be using. for autocross, i would be looking for the lightest wheels, probably 17s at the largest. what kind of wheels are they?

I have no clue how heavy these rims are. My mind is still somewhat undecided but I've been looking at Sport Max 962 rims. I'm kind of on a tight budget so I'm looking at cost as well as performance. I'm getting Kumho Ecsta tires but I haven't decided on a size yet. Here's a link to the rims:

and id probably spend more money and time looking for the right tires for autox than on wheels. stockers can always be used for autoxing

woops... boarder boy... your funny... zilla wanna be... lol... and yeah its just auto X the stock rims should be alright... just go with uber sticky tires... however anything that performs well is gonna umm.... not be on a tight budget. such as i would recomend bridgstone potenza SO-3's unless there is a newer model but tehy rate very high... or mabye kumho ecxta's... falken makes some aight tires.. forget what the are called.. remember... jsut look athte wear rate on the tires.. if they are fast wearers (did i say that right) they are grippy... in most casses...

I would like to buy volk but they are too expensive for me right now. I'll do some research and find the weight of the Sport Maxs. If they are lighter than stock then its an improvement. As far as looks go, how will they sit with the fenders?

also... rota wheels arent to expensive they are also fairly light... they are a very popular company.. the widest i think they have are 9's or 8.5's i cant remember... i want some for my 260Z i think... but i may be swade if i find soemthing else.

you might want to try AZA wheels
you can get some pretty nice packages from them and thier offsets (staggard) fit on the TT/natural wheels for about 800$ set and probably get your tires locally. AZA are sold on WWW.wheelmax.com
