1990 Z32 starts extremely hard
I have 1990 Z32 NA that is a bear to get started. This is a pretty recent development and until now the car has always ran very well. Anyways, in order to get it started I have to hold the gas pedal at about 1/2-3/4 with the key turned for about 5-6 seconds and then the engine will sputter and catch, run rough for about 10 seconds or so, and then all is well. Initially, it would only do this in the afternoons after the car had been sitting in the sun at my job, but now that it has gotten quite a bit warmer out it does it every time I try to start it when it has been sitting for a few hours. Also, if the engine is at running temp and I shut it off it will start up fine, it only seems to do this after it has been sitting for a while.
The other issue that has recently developed is when the engine is still getting up to temperature and I depress the clutch the engine will surge between about 1.4k - 2k rpms. Once again after the engine is up to temperature the surging stops.
I have a few ideas for places to look but I'm far from familiar with this particular engine and its components so I would really appreciate any advice anyone is willing to offer.
Thanks
