aftermarket alarm chirping

whenever i open my driver side door after locking it, the alarm starts chirping. the only way to stop this is by locking and unlocking the passenger door. it is pretty inconvinient for me as i hv to open the passenger door first every time i lock my car. i will be changing my alrm system within a month or so but i was hoping for a temporary fix for the problem. help to do so is appreciated.

Yea, remove the faulty one and hurry up and order another, without knowing what type of alarm or the wiring harness it is using its hard to say whats wrong w/ it. Sounds like the sensor in the door is off and is causing the alarm to trip when you close the door and then arms the system when you lock it causing it to chirp. It could however be something entirely different. I'd just get a new system w/ instructions.

Try removing the domelight relay. There is a switch in the door latch to activae the light when the handle is lifted. I am assuming that you do not have the key fob to the alarm. Most aftermarket alarms are located fairly close to the ignition console to make it easier to install the starter kill. Locate your ignition interupt and follow it back to the alarm box. The red wire coming out of the box will usually be fused to protect the alarm, just pull the fuse to disable the alarm.

Good call, if you don't mind me asking, what did you opt for?

I have always been a fan of DEI products (Clifford, Viper, etc). I currently have my Clifford RS 3.5 also pulling double as my turbo timer. You should be happy with the Viper, they go in easy too.
