engine removal

For the record, electronic boost controllers will result in noticeably better performance than manual boost controllers because with manual controllers, boost is always bleeding off the wastegates, whereas the wastegates are kept completely closed until target boost is reached with an electronic controller.
And as for the resistor mod, the whole idea is to suppress the detonation sensor's signal, so if 475ohms is sufficient, so will be any larger resistance. (Just providing insight behind the theory.)

um Ok, what should I do about the boost then? I cant get an TT harness, and if a manual boost controller is bad then how can I bypass the electronic boost controllers?

Bypass the *stock boost solenoids* (they're not controllers, they just control boost at either 6psi or 9psi depending on engine parameters). Easy... get an electronic boost controller. Install the MBC if you have to, but I'd highly recommend an EBC.
And if you can't get a TT harness, have fun modifying the one you have for all the TT components. Tell this guy that if he wants a running TT, he's going to have to spend money to get all the parts it needs. I can't stand people who want to cut corners and have everything turn out fine.

I love to build this Z right but its not my call on what he wants to do. I still think he should go look for another Z32TT
Is there a way to hard wire the engine to just run at 9PSI? Hes trying to get this thing to run at 15PSI with no mods which sounds foolish.

The TT *cannot* run more than 11-12psi without an aftermarket ECU. Period. It will blow the engine apart.
Best way involves taking the engine out and tightening the wastegates. You'd need a compressor and gauge and you'd need to adjust them to open at 9psi (they are originally set to 6psi and the boost solenoids restrict flow to result in 9psi). Else, you could bypass the boost solenoids and try different size welding tips in the wastegate lines to try to emulate the affect the boost solenoids had to produce 9psi. I believe, in general, .035" welding tips result in ~14.5 psi on most TT's, so go larger than that. Start much larger, observe peak boost, and decrease size gradually until 9psi is obtained.

Hmm Alright. can do. And I think he got the ECU chipped (some $30 ebay chip...) hes trying to go as cheap as possible to get a really fast car <.< ITs a damn 2+2 it only weights as much as a truck and hes trying to do weight reduction, insane mods that will blow up that engine in no time. hell he didnt even buy the brake pedal for the 5 speed swap.
If I manage to get this Z going again I'll amaze myself lol

Maybe I should make a poll "Will this Z ever drive again?" lol
Anyways I'm going to go put the transmission on and put the engine back in. Wish me luck! Maybe it might go in easy. methinks no

I've done a manual transmission clutch job 3 times now, but for whatever reason this one will NOT go in! the clutch is lined up right I know that.

Now hes talking about wanting a manual boost controller so he can be able to turn the boost off on the highway so he can used this home made hydrogen cell with the plans he got off the net....
I'm thinking I'm not going to work on this car anymore if he keeps wanting me to do these half *** mods...
Maybe I can get this Z from him for dirt cheap and fix it right and just keep it as a daily driver or something Or part it out lol

I want to but atm its the only form of income I have. Soooo ya I'm just going to start ignoring him and do it the right way and just start ordering parts that he needs. not wants (i can understand a set of down pipes and little things, but man...) Can you even use a manual boost controller to turn the boost all the way off anyways???

Lemme think of what mods he wants done...
Weight reduction, like carbonfiber everything
Bigger turbos
Manual boost control (Ebay kit...)
Racing pedals
Flat black the car
Huge rims and next to no tire
Lower the car with a sharp handling suspension (he got a cheapy Ebay kit for this)
Lightweight flywheel (another Ebay goodie he got)
Stage 1 clutch (ebay again...)
I think hes trying to get the car to go as fast as possible with very little money. It doesnt mix!!!!
Current problems are, N/A Harness TT ECU and engine, Poorly mounted front mount inter cooler, and press bent exhaust piping for intercooler piping, the intake side of the piper I swear is drier lines... Tons of half *** wiring, shitty alarm system install (I've removed it entirely) Auto pedal in a 5 speed car. Um I bet theres stuff I'm missing but its amazing... Its hard to believe this car ever ran. Even before the auto took a big fat dump.

No, you can never "turn the boost off" without *extensive* modification (as in, an electric cutout for the exhaust before the turbo so that the exhaust gasses could bypass the turbo altogether - but I've never even heard of this being done, it's just the only way I could imagine doing it). This guy is a flat out moron.

I've tried to get him to go here to Zdriver like 5 times so he can brush up on the basics but I dont think he listens to be honest. Oh well if he wants to blow up his Z I'm not gonna be part of it
