gasoline

Obviously the Z32 requires premium fuel, but who produces the best gas? Chevron, Unocal, etc. Does anyone know of any comparisons or studies that have been done?

I do believe that all the gas is essentially the same. All the tankers fill up at the same place. Then afterwards, additives if any, are added later.
Standard Oil companies like Texaco and other American Oil companies are different though.
But as far as I know, there really isn't a difference. Not one significant enough to warrant choosing one over the other.

hmmm.....but how come some companies claim their gas is the best of the environment and the car....blah blah blah...any truth there?

Like you said, it's just a claim. Ask them for their proof. Like I said, after they receive their gas they put in their additives, be it a certain color, detergent, or other 'special' mixture.

I have to disagree simply from a personal experience I had. It was late at night and I needed gas. The only place open at the time was a pilot station. I filled up my tank and until that gas was gone out of my car, my car started and ran like absolute crap. Real bad idle. hesitation worse than ever before. I guess you could argue that it was something else, but as soon as I got some mobil 1 into my car, it ran back to normal. There's got to be some tests on this...lemme look.

i agree with emo....just sometimes when you fill up at a sketchy gas station your car will run like crap....i keep switching around trying to find the one i like best. but since it's been like 6 months since i drove last... i don't remember anymore

I found a few stuff:
http://www.geocities.com/bmw535i86/text/FAQ/FAQ.11.html
....I knew all gases weren't created equal!
That's all I could find, but I'm sure there's more. Personally, I only use Mobil, Exxon, or Chevron or Shell, even though taht test rated Shell as not so good. I rarely use Chevron too...usually Mobil. Oh and sometimes 76.

I primarily use Chevron and Unocal, so I guess I'm ok. IMHO, Shell is crap and way overpriced.

If you had some bad gas experiences, I think it would probably because of water. Some gas stations in this area have been fined and forced to redo some of their tanks because either 1. they had leaks in their tanks allwoing moisture into the gas or allowing gas out in to the environment, or 2. they've been adding gas to water it down to make more money off it.
Your experience could be either of those two situations. Also like the article explained, oxygenated gas could be the culprit. Could be. I haven't had any problems with it though.

All I know is that some stations tend to make cars run like crap and I'm gonna stay away form those.

Wrecker, at this point, I don't think anyone's listening to your opinion anymore. We all know that your delirious from lack of sleep. At this point you could be agreeing that water mixed in with your gas is good.

Nothing, unless you're saying you've been deprived of sleep.

Post it in the for sale section. Maybe Rizz wants one. There's also that dude from the UK. the one that started the thread "chipping my NA". Worth a shot.
