God Be With The Families

I know it isnt talked about much on here...but I felt compelled to make mention of something on the local news here in Ga.

http://www.11alive.com/news/usnews_a...?storyid=63789

A teenage boy, 17, from Forsyth was killed while driving his 300zx. I hit home for me because he graduated from high school this year, as did I. It also hit close to home for me because his car was nearly identical to mine. I was a sight that made me sit down for a while..seeing the picture of that white Z. I know I drive wreckless...but I guess I need to learn.

Guys please be careful while driving...I dont want to hear any more reports like this one.

That is a tragic story, I can relate to the story, I had a friend or more just someone I knew who was in High School who was in my graduating class who wreckd his Stealth with his girlfriend in the car just a few months after graduation, both were pronouced dead at the scene. It was a really tragic story like this one and hit home for me, one of my good friends was with the guys girlfriend like an hour before they wrecked, so It had a substancial impact on my outlook on how to drive responsibly.

Its stories like these that make you realize that you're not invincible. I know it was probably one of those cases where it's happening before you even realize it, these Z's can have that effect. That's why I never like to try to make my Z do crazy things like drifting, and hauling *** while doing stupid ****, my friends never understand why I don't push my car, but this is one major reason, I respect my car, my hard work, and my life over anything else.

KIDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the more reason to restrict licensing until your 18, or older. All the more reason to require a little more in-depth drivers training. When I was a kid, I was wild and crazy, doing dumb stuff. When you're a parent, you lose alot of sleep when your kids start venturing out in the world. It's a parents' WORST nightmare come true !!!!!! The kid don't feel a thamn thing.

I agree that there need to be more in depth training...madatory training. I think grades and other factors should be assesed b4 granting teens our license. I am biased bout the age issue though..I cant really make a firm argument bc I am so young. But I see where u are comin from.

dont; blame me I got a B avarage, i behave and have my own job so everithign done to my Z is under my own budjet. (probably one of the reasons it spends most of it's time broken.) as far as a licence responsibvle driver, but i do get a little crazy on good roads with no trafic. p.s. driftocomando he he

i didn't get my license till i was 18 and could afford my own car.

i remember at my high school, every year during homecoming they had a big drinking n driving event.
Usually a staged accident and the consequences, of course no one cares about that stuff till it really happens.
quite sad acutally.

i feel for the family and friends of that kid. im only 24 but i have had quite a few friends die due to motorcycle and car crashes the last few years and i was very devastated by a couple of them. its just crazy how you can be hanging out with someone one day and the next day you will never see them again. i feel personally i am a fairly good driver (doesnt everyone) but i have had a couple too close calls, especially with my Z to make me think twice about pulling some unnecesary stupid stunt on the road. take it easy everyone

If any of you have had to respond to such an accident, it'll hit home even more. When it's someone you happen to know or someones children you know or ran around with your kids. It'll rip your stomach out.
It'll horrible to see that happen and deffinately a parents worse nightmare.

I wouldn't normally be in the Z32 section except for the fact that I was in the middle of shopping for one and wanted to see what was going on in this part of the site. I saw this thread and it instantly brought back painful memories. About four years ago I had a kid working for me who had just turned twenty. He saved his money for a while and buoght a 95 300ZXTT that was a real peach. He must have brought ten different cars down to have me look them over before we settled on that one. He didn't have much experience with a "Fast" car and we all told him to take it easy and learn to handle the car. Two weeks after he bought it, he spun it out and tore up the car pretty good, but was unhurt in the accident. It took about a month to get the car back from the body shop, upon which he immediatly picked up where he had left off before the crash... driving recklessly. Not long afterwards he lost control of the car at a very high rate of speed late at night on a rain slick road and was killed instantly after the car left the roadway and hit a tree. His Fiance at the time was 4 months pregnant. I love my car, I love the power it has, but there's a time and a place for using that power. Public roads on rainy nights with limited skills are not one of them. It's ok to have fun with a fast car, but we should all be very respectful of the power they have.

thanks rod for the story, it reminds my of one of my cousin....

my cousin has a 03 mustang and had drifto delusions in his head. well, one night he decides to drift his mustang on a rainy night around a turn thinking the rain will give him a good slide. little does he know, there is a big difference between controlled drifting and just plain sliding in the rain. well, he slid into a tree on the corner and smashed his door, hood and front fender.DORIFTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would like to end this story that he learned his lesson. but he still till this day street races trys to drift with his ricer mods and japanesse stickers on his car. and i forgot to mention that he also hydrolocked his motor a few months before he drifted into the tree cause he has an intake thats in his passanger fender well. another brainer for driving on puddles in the rain speeding non the less.

im goin to print your story rob and give it to my 19 year old cousin to read.. maybe itll spark some brain cells.

that's gotta suck... I got my licence at 16, and had been driving illegally before that for a year or so. I feel for the family. my wife and I just had a baby a couple months ago... It's hard to imagine watching your child grow up, and graduate high school, and all the time/money/love you spent.... just gone, for one bad move.

i had a similar experience w/ my z last october.... my car was running like crap, though it was something wrong, so i didnt drive it for a few days.... i drove it to work the next day cause i couldnt get a ride, and i needed gas... i gassed it up, and it ran fine, i just had a batch of bad gas..... well, i went home after work, got changed, and went to meet up w/ my friends.... i was driving like an *******, b/c i hadent driven the car for a couple days.... being over confident in your car is bad, unfortunitly i had to learn this the hard way.... i entered a turn at 90, my back end kicked out, no biggie, its happened before, i counter steer and start to correct it.... it starts coming back.... i ran out of power b/c i was in too high of a gear, so my tires cought, and overcorrected.... my rear driver side tire folded over, the road started to curve, my front tire hit the embankment on the side of the road, and it pulled my car up a hill.... my rim w/ the blown tire dug in, and my car flipped over..... it sucked.... i was fine thank god... when something like this happens, you realize how much everone really does care about you.... my girlfriend, who i wasent dating at the time, showed up at the scene, shaking and crying... whenever i start to drive fast, i picture her face, it helps me remeber who i would be hurting if i killed myself.... not to mention my parents were freaked out as well.... i was 19 when i crashed, im 20 now.... i dont speed as much now, b/c i dotn want to loose my girlfriend or my family... its fun to go out and drive wreckless.... but imagine how your girlfriend, or your wife, or you family will feel if they get the call that your no longer alive because you were driving like a moron..... its fun, but its not worth it.... anyway.... hope everyone out there drives safe..... the other downside to crashing, i having to look at your car that you love so much.... ill post a link so everyone can see pics of my screwup, hopefully you guys wont do anything the same.... anyway, i hope everyone has a good one, and drives safe... later guys -dan

pics of my crash

ps.. i have an audi S4 now, its alot faster than my 300zxTT, but since my crash, i respect my car more
