Harmonic balancer
#2
Welcome to ZDriver!
The crank pulley (harmonic balancer) bolt is torqued on at ~150ft/lbs. Usually you need a beefy 1/2" breaker bar and impact socket to get it loose, or you can brace the breaker bar against the frame rail and crank the engine super quick. Just make sure you've placed the breaker on the correct side so it will loosen the bolt. And disconnect the coil packs.

Easier, yes... safer, no. A general rule of thumb when you don't want the engine to start, is disconnect the spark. If you disconnect the fuel pump relay, there is still ~35psi fuel to burn for a few seconds. That's enough time to wrap a breaker bar through your engine bay.
