UPDATE:
Talked to the mechanic.
Compression is between 200 psi and 150 psi which (according to him) is too big of a range. Clearly, the compression was not the issue (as anything around) 75 to 90 should allow the cylinder to fire.

The problem is that cyl. #2 was getting no firing pulse for the injector. This is also where the compression was the lowest.

The plugs had an interesting fouling, as if the car had been running rich. Apparently, all the plugs where not the same/not platinum tipped, so he replaced them with the correct plugs.

I'm writing on here to ask if anyone knows of a specific point in the harness that is known to break or cause problems so that we (the mechanic and I) can investigate it on thursday. The ECU was showing a 55 and that both O2 sensors were working. I appreciate any and all help. Thanks to those who already have provided.

the connectors and wires in general to the spark plugs, they ar 17 years old and that engine bay gets incredibly hot, they just crack get brittle and fry... thats a broad range of compression but your car should still run fine with those numbers. 75-90 and stll fire? dude, tell him to sit on it and blow it out his ***. my cylinder had 90 psi in just one JUST ONE and it ran like ***. just replace the whole connector and wire to the injectors. get ALL NEW NGK platinum spark plugs. and make sure the injectors are all getting the same ohm reading (around 14) as teh mechanic to do that. and does this guy know Z32's? cuase many dont and arent suitable for anything other than this basic stuff... sept i dont like his 75-90 comment, not on an NA will it still fire well...

broad range = failing compression right (even if its early stages). what is the stock compression on each cylinder

your in spec about except for the 150.. but not bad at all.. if you take care of the car use a little heavier oil, it shoudl stay in spec jsut fine. ill see if i can find the numbers for you i cant remember them.. some where around 170-190 i think

so we are within spec, and using a heavier oil would keep us that way. Is the compression really failing or are we fine in that respect?
**** this learning curve is ridiculous I wish I had someone to apprentice myself to. like u or someone else with experience.

your inspec, just one cylinder is close to the bottom line, and its varies alot, but you should be fine if your taking care of it. you have entropy, but he doesnt like people lol

Eric, my last Z fired on all six with 75psi of compression in one of the cylinders. Of course, it also shot out the dipstick when I'd punch it because of all the blowby, but it still fired up to about 14 psi of boost (then it'd start misfiring). You may be right about it not firing on an NA, but I have no real basis for comparison.

And thanks for digging out the compression specs. Yes, your car is still within the acceptable range.

However, you're not supposed to have a deviation of more than 14psi... so I'd say the engine isn't exactly healthy, but it isn't blown either. Your misfire is definately not from an internal issue.

what do you think we should do about the car? Sell it? Wait and have the motor replaced? How long do you think it will last like this? Preventative maintenance wise how should we keep the compression up?
Thanks Snowy and Zlover

Engine Honey. Get it. Use it.

It's a real thick lubricant that'll help increase compression.
