How to check codes
Hello, I have tried two different ways to retrieve the diagnostic codes from the ECU of my 1992 300ZX NA 5 speed. Neither way worked for me.
1. I watched the YouTube video "[How-To] 300ZX Pull Codes \ CEL, 90-95". He stuck a wire into two ports of the OBD port to short something out and then his check engine light blinked out his codes. I tried doing this and couldn't get it to work. I tried several times using a paper clip and I tried several times with some speaker wire. I followed his directions and I did have the key in the "on" position. For me, the check engine light did not ever blink - it was consistently on the whole time. Just fyi, my check-engine light is not "on" when I'm driving.
2. I followed the directions in the post "Z32: ECU Diagnostic/O2 Sensor Test" on NICOClub dot com. I removed the floor mat, pulled back the carpet, removed the board, turned the screw clockwise, waited 2 seconds, then turned the screw counter-clockwise. I followed the directions and had the key in the "ACC" position. The LED did not flash.
Did I do something wrong?
Is there another way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
