Out of curiosity regarding the short throw shifter. I asked about this @ Z1 Motorsports - in the course of a conversation in which I was discussing bearing noise that I hear from the transmission - I was told that the short-throw shifter is "hard" on the transmission (?) . Is it because the user is just more abusive or because the short throw shifter places more stress on the internal trans components. Just curious as I would like to have a good one in my car :-)

i could see it being more stressful on the tranny becasue while your shifting as fast as you can the longer bottom linkage is moving even FASTER than stock, alot faster, so its basically like slamming the gears twice as faster as prior. but meh, who cares. lol.

Thats funny you mention that. I talked to them yesterday about the same thing. Z1 said that they would have new a short shifter kit availabe in about 2 months. It is supposed to be much easier on the tranny than their previous kit.

Cool, I'm glad to hear that! Gotta put one of those on my wish list :-)

That's interesting. The concept of a short shifter is pretty simple; i.e., it works 1 way. I would be interested to see how it would be easier on the tranny.
