yeah well i took th car down there and they flushed the entire system and put in atf it is better but not like it should be.

wowever over the past month or so every once in a while my power steering will work and have actual power but it vary how long it lasts. so im thinking i may have a sticky pressure relief valve. so i will probally rebiuld the pump and put in a new valve. what do you guys think?

and yes zlover you are very true on that one shouldnt take there car to a full service car wash ill never let my dad take my car again to get work done lol

i say replace it with a good pump instead of rebuilding it yourself. nissan oem or try napa. dont go to cheap though or it probably wont last long

true that on the new pump. mine is doing the same thing as yours, zloversaid his did the same thing when his got ps fluid in it, it can't be fixed, just get a new pump. i'm thinking about just getting a new face though. it's not really a rebuild, just replacing the internals i guess.

yeah if i can afford a new pump i will get one but i have to come up with 185 for my ticket so a pump rebuild i will most likely try first

i know what you mean, but you may end up wasting some money on the parts for that rebuild.

i dont even think the pump itself is bad i think the pressure release valve is just stuck and not letting the pump build pressure.

you can try, but is it really likely that putting an inadequate lubricant in the pump caused the pressure release valve to stick, or is it more likely that the inadequate lubrication caused major damage of the more vital and more dependent on lubrication parts?

I agree, but if he wants to try rebuilding it, let him. It's not expensive to rebuild and if it does end up working, he saved a lot of money.

Money is almost never wasted. Often times, when it seems wasted, it comes with a lesson (whether it be learning a new skill or a moral lesson). In this case, you will gain intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the Z32's power steering pump. $20 to learn the mechanics of the PS pump is a fair trade, if you ask me.

On the other hand, people who blow money on cheap parts learn that it's a dumb decision... so I'd consider your potentially "wasted" money to be much more valuable than that of someone who bought something like an Apollo intercooler. The only lesson they learn is that they should've stuck with the facts... and it takes them much longer to realize their lesson. LOL

so where is the text that states that ps fluid isn't an adequate lubricant for the Z32? this guy at the z shop keeps saying that it shouldn't ruin the pump. i'm just trying to show him cause he wants to argue about it.

Yeah.. You should have. Hopefully you have ATF in yours right now. Or look at replacing it.

yeah i know it says it's supposed to use ATF, but i'm looking for the text that says "ps fluid is not adequate lubrication for the z32. it will ruin the pump". i know it's true, i'm just looking for a reference to prove it

shouldnt nissan be able to confirm that only atf should be run?
if not tell him to call either conceptz, z1 etc. if he is that stubborn then f*** him.
tell him to look at the color of the fluid in it now ps fluid is *** color if i recall correctly
and atf is red

What the f*ck shop are you going to?? There is recommended fluid for a reason. That's like putting gear lube in the engine and saying "show me where it says that using anything other than motor oil will ruin the engine." It shouldn't need to be explicitly stated to be obvious.

a lawyer would say differently, when reading FAR's for flight they restate EVERYTHING and leave no room for questions like this. written by lawyers so retards cant do something illegal and then go, "well, it didn't say i necessarily COULDN'T" it's ridiculous reading some of the crap in that book makes you feel like a 2 year old

yeah that's what i thought. but this guy's all "certified" on z cars and ****. he goes to seminars in japan and classes for z technicians and stuff. he thinks he knows all and there have been several times now that i just wanted to say no. you're wrong.

Tell him to quit going to Japan, and spend some time on here with us.
We'll go easy on him.
People that think they know everything are the ones that most definitely do not.
He may know a lot about Z cars. But he should never think he knows everything.
Humans are all fallible.
