uh... I said it's on the steering rack. The ECU is nowhere near the steering rack. He's referring to a different thing (I didn't notice he said "below the ECU").

Below the ECU inside the car

Turbo version has two plugs and NA's have one plug (box is way smaller too)

The control box powers the solenoid on the steering rack. Varying the voltage to it controls the effort. Two parts to the equation

ok i will make this simple, the power steering system is a hydraulic system, now the z32 auto trans is a mix of hydraulic and electrical, now the only problem i see with running ATF in your P/S system is all of the detergents in it could possibly cause some leaks and i would not recommend it as being a permanent replacement, although i have successfully gone over 100k miles on ATF in the P/S system the long term results include a worn rack and pinion or steering box and a worn out pump. now see with P/S fluid it carry's more lubrication and less detergents and will last alot longer at max line pressure and well is just pretty much designed to be ignored, abused and forgotten, where as ATF doesnt like to be ignored and abused and doesnt like heat very much, where as P/S fluid can get way hotter then ATF and be fine.

WTF are you talking about? The Z32's PS system REQUIRES ATF, not PS fluid.

yeah seriously. we've been over several times in this thread that PS fluid ruins these systems. it doesn't adequately lubricate them.
