yah, there was a write up on how to do one on www.300zxclub.com you have to bypass something rather and you have to leave the car in neutral everytime you park.

Yep. You have to bypass the switch that only allows you start the car with the clutch pressed. I haven't read the write-up. I won't do it because I always leave my car in gear when I park it. If/when I install a turbo timer, then I would maybe consider. I don't really see the benefit for me. It doesn't get that cold here.

hmm cool
i wonder how much it would cost me just for that now, along with new actuators for doors and trunk, and installation

Actuators are a pain in ****. You need to place 1 in the driver door. I don't know how you rig the trunk. Not worth it IMO.

It can be dangerous installing a remote start on a manual. I actually watched an integra who left his car in gear and forgot about it. Went to hit his remote start and it jumped and ended up popping over the curb and BARELY missing a wall. I think it was touching it, but didn't hit it hard or do any damage.

So when you're parents drive your car, be careful with the remote start.

2 things ar critical when doing a remote start on manual tranny. 1st you have to bypass the clutch switch to fool the car into thinking the clutch is depressed. 2 (MOST IMPORTANT) connect the alarm/remote start kill switch to the parking brake I.E. if parking brake is not set alarm will not remote start. There is also a nuetral safety switch mentioned for manual tranny in the fsm but I haven't tested it yet.

Oh, and most of the time you need to know how to install it yourself cause it's against policy of 99% of alarm shops to install remote start's in manual tranny cars.

just an added safety measure if the parking brake fails, the tranny and engine help keep the car where you left it.

Ok, next time you are on a hill and the car is off..take off the e-brake and leave it in first gear..guarantee it won't move. Your car can't move when it's in gear.

umm, i wouldnt bet the farm on that. my old blazer would still roll a little sometmes in 1st or reverse depending on the hill. i once found it about 25 feet down the hill from where i parked it! best bet is to do both.

The car will move when it's in gear. The higher the gear, the easier it is to move. You should never park your car and leave it in 1st gear. If you did that and someone hit your car while it was parked, then it would most likely ruin the tranny, or at least 1st gear. The rest of the gears would allow the car to roll freely enough to where it shouldn't cause significant damage.
