Turbo Question
Hey everyone whats up! So i have a 91 300zx w/ 78k miles and the car originally was a automatic and then they switched it over to a manual. Now Both my turbo's blew and im about to buy a new pair of OEM's but its asking me if i want (manaual) or (auto) turbo's? Im not 100% if the guy switched the turbo's over when he did the tranny?
Either way im just wondering what type i should buy since my car was both. Thanks for reading and helping guys!

A/R trim
Each of the Turbo types were dialed in for the transmission used, they should interchange mechanically, since you are now running a manual, I would assume you would want the turbo biased for that application, although I bet either would work.
M/T cars had turbos with an A/R trim of .63. A/T cars, .54.
A larger A/R will spool later and provide a higher power band.
Probably the lower A/R on automatics was used to help the auto spool a little faster and keep the rpm's lower to protect the engines from over revving on shifts. My best guess, I am by no means a turbo expert, so if anyone can shed more light on this please chime in.

To be safe
I would get the proper one for the transmission you currently have, the auto is long gone, Nissan did the research for a proper fit, form and function, I would rely on they're R&D, go with the manual version.... to be safe.

Keep in mind that your engine is still from an Auto TT. This means you have lower duration cams which will effect spool up and power band. I don't recommend rebuilt OEM turbos, they don't tend to last very long. I would at least get Z1's GT535 Kit as a replacement as your talking your engine out anyways.
