Wheel bearing problems...
Ok guys, try to figure this one out: I need to replace the rear hub bearing on my 93 Z, but my mechanic told me that the bearing itself costs $200+ !!!!!, and that i can't replace just the bearing......but the hub bearing, the hub assembly, and something called a "crush" washer or else the repair won't work. Is this true or is he just giving me a load of bull? Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, it is much easier just to replace the hub assembly, but it can put a strain on your wallet. However, yes, you can replace just the bearings without having to buy a new hub assembly. In fact, if you want to do it yourself and save some money, it's really not that difficult. Once you get the hub off, you can take it to a local service center and they'll prolly charge you around $20 to change out the bearings.
Hmmm, just for kicks, maybe you should ask your mechanic why the bearings are sold separately -- umm, and be sure to take your camera so we can all see the dumbfounded look on his face. Hee-hee.
Oh, and, I have no idea what your mechanic is referring to as a "crush" washer. LOL!
