from the pics it looks like you have 5%... so yeah thats pretty illegal but your lucky to be able to get 33% on the sides... we can only get 70% here in caly.. which pretty much isnt any tint at all... IMO i like it... id leave it but if you cant see through it then have it removed and go 30%

you are only allowed 33% blockage right? that's how it usually works. mine are not that dark and when i got pulled over he tested them at 47%. 50% was the limit. so yeah, unless your state says that 33% of light has to be able to come through, i'd say you're illegal.

really, only 33% in AZ.... I thought Nevada and Arizona had no limits due to the high heat levels.
looks like %5 tint. tint off the shelf comes in 35%, 20%, and 5% in most cases. Most states have a 35% limit on all windows, except for SUV and vans.

hey i just found this
Arizona Tint Law Enacted: 1994
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN ARIZONA?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Arizona, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 33% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.
HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN ARIZONA?
Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
Front Side Windows Must not be more than 35% reflective.
Back Side Windows Must not be more than 35% reflective.
OTHER ARIZONA RULES AND REGULATIONS
Restricted Colors The tint color(s) of RED AMBER are not legal by state law.
Side Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state.
Sticker Requirements No sticker to identify legal tinting is required.
Medical Exemption State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

Maybe it's just the way you worded that... but the tint % is the rating of "how much light passes through"
So yes... 5% tint allows 5% light though. A state law requiring no lower than 35% tint means it must allow at least 35% light through. I think you got that... but the "factory is 13%" throws off your other statements.

well that's exactly the way that the state trooper explained it to me when he was checking it. so maybe his ignorance is the reason i didn't get a ticket. but the way he did it, the lower the number on the meter, the farther from getting a ticket you were, and that number was percent tint.

I have 15% dark on mine and i got pulled over they take out the little box with a slit in hte middle and put it on your window then they press the green button and it scans the tint... i passed but he said at night time he couldnt even see me inside my car..... i told him i got my tint done at solar shield . But why should it matter right ? the police have 5% tint and they get away with it.... down with ZOG ! zionest ocupied government !

lol you cant even see me inside my car in the day time.
and kas valid but invalad argument at the same time.
yes police are supposed to be trustworthy enough not to pull a gun on someone when and if they were to ever get pulled but, police must obey all the rules as everyone else or they can also get a ticket. and have you ever noticed that tickets are merly "complaints" so officers are just paid tattle tales no offence i am thinking of becoming an officer so dont hate. im just stating my opinion.

well just as people with skin conditions get exceptions so have darker windows, the police should be able to because they have a job that puts them in a car all day. i don't feel too strongly about it. i'm just saying i don't care that they can have darker windows then we can. i'm from back in the woods where all the cops are pretty trust worthy.

lol in the back woods
ha ha just thought of something bad
jk.
well i live in az and i dont see the probem with protecting myself from the sun
guess ill just see how long i can get away with it till i get a ticket.

I'm sorry, I'm confused,
you said that sometimes you can't see out the side windows at night. Isn't that enough to change the tint on the side windows? Your car looks good. I used to live in Phoenix, I know how freakin hot it gets, I've seen people use oven mitts because the steering wheel is so hot. I don't think cutting the tint down to legal will cause the temperature to increase more than a couple degrees. After all, you have a black car, and I'm pretty sure you have black leather or charcoal cloth interior. It's going to suck except in winter where I found it actually warms the interior a bit.
As far as the wheel cap, it looks like a vinyl sticker, I think you can get that made at like a Kinko's or anywhere that does custom graphics.
