Wiper Fluid Light

My Z has had a wiper fluid leak since I bought it in the fall. That doesn't really bother me, never really used it in my old car anyway. What does bother me is that the annoying yellow light on my dash is always on to tell me that the fluid is low. Anyone know of an easy way to deactivate it? I know someone is going to say, why don't you just fix the leak? Maybe I will eventually but like I said it doesn't really bother me not having the fluid. And I could fix that just to find out I have the sprayer leak that I've heard about.

It's most likely a float sensor, so it's grounding out. Either disconnect the sensor, or adjust the float so it doesn't ground.

Or fix the problem correctly.

Haha, knew someone would say it! I might fix it in the spring when it warms up. Its leaking from behind the passenger side front wheel well. So it shouldn't be too hard to get in there and look around. From what I understand, thats where the wiper fluid motor is.

KasbekZ, where are you in Virginia? I'm in Richmond, don't actually know anyone else around here with a 300zx. See them on the road from time to time but I don't know anyone.

2nd.

To fix the leak and the nozzle leak, you might spend a whopping $5 and 20 minutes. The leak is likely the hose at the bottom of the tank, so just replace that. And to stop the nozzle leak, install a new check valve.

And there are hoards of Z owners in Virginia. Check out TwinTurbo.NET and look up Bernie. He services local northern Virginia Zs and I'd say most weekends his garage is the equivalent of a small Z meet.

Yea, I'll definitely check it out soon. Any easy way to get to that area? Just remove the plastic inside the wheel well?

I'm sure there are more Zs up in Northern VA and if I ever need specialty work done I'll be looking Bernie up. But I gotta tell you, around Richmond I see maybe one a week on the road and I do a good amount of driving. Thats excluding the one thats just been sitting at a garage next to my gym for a couple months. I know there is a small Z club here though.

i don't know about a local club, but bernie's crowd in nova seems pretty tight. i live in norfolk, and i've got a good friend here that goes to school with me with a green n/a, and he actually lives in richmond. so i'm sure he'd like to meet up any time. he's frequently on 3zc.com despite my constant reminders of why he shouldn't be.

thanks for the tip about the hose. i've never looked because i've always had something else to worry about lol. i'm going to check mine out next chance i get.

... does that mean your Z is a 2+2? Because on the 2+0, the reservoir is in the hatch and thus easier to reach.

No it's a 2+0. I think I read somewhere online that the wiper fluid motor is in the front in the area that I saw it leaking from after I filled it. Of course it could be the tubing going into or coming out of the motor. Just gonna have to dig into it to find out.
