120k Maint

I ran a search for it on the forums, and it didn't really come up with anything.

It's time for the 120k maintainence, and I want to do it myself (with some help from some friends). I've decided it's about time to start learning how to work on my car more than just changing the oil.

how hard is it to do? Are there any good online resources for something like that? maybe like a walk through?

I'm not very technical when it comes to cars, but over the years I have gotten good at taking things apart and putting them back together, and reading directions (years of working with computers), and I have a ton of friends that are really into cars. I'm sure we could do it, just need a little input.

Very good write-up on T-belt change here:

You definitely need all of the right tools, but with the tools and these instructions, I'm pretty confident a relative beginner can do it. No matter what, change the idler pullies too.

EDIT: LOL....... 1,000 posts for me. should I stop?

Um...no.

If i recall. I started a celebration thread when i hit 1k. lol

dgtl_rebellion, the 120k is usually referred to as the every 60k maintanence. That link CC provided along with the online retailers that sell all the 60k parts as a set will help you along in this wonderful project that Nissan blessed upon us.

I didn't realize this until I saw a cut-away view of the engine in motortrend, but the VQ35 engine has chain driven cams. It's funny how things go full circle. All of the L series motors had chain drive. They'd outlast the rings and valves...... although I did see a few teeth break off the crank drive sprockets.......
