300zx na vs. 2002 Sentra SE-R
this quier in my neighborhood has a sentra SE-R and i keep hearing hes talkin sh*t sayin he can beat me. i already told him i would murder him, and i asked him to race me a bunch of times and he makes up a new excuse every time. But i have read some specs on them and they have pretty good numbers. What do you all think can i beat him? oh by the way i only have an intake and he only has exhaust.

Re: 300zx na vs. 2002 Sentra SE-R
I wouldn't worry about the Sentra even if it is a SpecV. My friend has a SpecV with the AEM CAI, Hotshot header, and a mandrel bent 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust. In, addition we removed his balance shaft chain to reduce parasitic drag which is supposed to allow the engine to rev more freely above 5000rpm and add about 10 wheel hp.
Anyways, his car is very quick but off the line it's a pile. Nissan totally screwed the gear ratios for 1st and 2nd, they're too low for an engine with that much torque which results in massive tire spin. Off the line I take him, with my virtually stock NA Z32 (stock paper filters w/milled intake box and 2 1\4" piping from flange to dual out mufflers)by half a car. When I hit fourth he begins to slowly drop back to 2 cars. At 120mph his SpecV is about 15-20 cars away. At 140 it looks like he gives up but he's still trying. This testing occured only a few days ago in a Trio match. The 140mph was verified by my cousin in his 98 GT Mustang w/ intake and open exhaust. It took a while to get there but we supposedly did. My speedometer read 135mph but I have the base model 350Z wheels that are 235/50/17 in the rear and 225 up front.
As a warning, you will not pull hard on him in the lower gears (1,2,3). In fact, if your annoying SER neighbor has all the mods my friend has in his SpecV he can keep up with you until you hit higher speeds so don't be too cocky. My car has 166,000 miles on it but I can hang with my cousins 98 GT Stang on the freeway and at the line with a good launch. Don't try sandbagging the Sentra either because playing catch up may not be very easy if your engine has some wear. Good luck and let me know how it goes by responding back to this thread.
