91 TT 60,000 miles; rough/low idle, hard to shift into first from dead stop.
Hey guys,
So about a month ago I bought my first Z. It's a 1991 300zx TT five speed with only 60,000 miles on it. I drove it for about three weeks without any issues, it ran beautifully. About a week ago I started it and it immediately tried to die on me, but i gave it some gas for a few seconds and it ran fine after that. This problem has recently gotten worse. The problem currently manifests itself as a low/rough idle while intermittently trying to die when first turned on. On top of this a couple days ago the clutch started feeling sticky while trying to shift into first from a dead stop. It has steadily gotten worse to the point where I have to pump the clutch a few times to shift into first or reverse. At first I thought the fluid was leaking, but I checked and the level isn't dropping. It seems weird that both problems would manifest themselves around the same time after no issues whatsoever and not be somehow connected. Also, I checked the error codes on the ECU and no error is showing up.
At first I thought that I needed a new fuel filter and a new clutch master cylinder, but that wouldn't explain the problems happening around the same time. My brother, also not a mechanic by any means, suggested that a problem with the vacuum system on the clutch booster could possibly cause both issues.
If you guys have any advice or ideas I would love to hear from you.
