AC problem

so this afternoon, i turned on my car to warm it up to go to work (it was like 90 degrees outside and no shade for my Z.....) and i turned on the AC so when i left, the inside would be cool. about 5 mins later, i took off and about 50 feet of driving, i heard a LOUD hiss like a tire deflating coming from under the hood on the driver's side. i turned off the AC, pulled over and opened my hood and the sound was coming from the driver's side, between the engine and the wheel well... the hiss started to die out and then when i went to turn my AC back on, it was hot! I looked in that little window in the AC pipe and no liquid was passing through. what happened?

iono from what I'm reading this is just guesstimatin from my point of view. some line in your AC system sprung a leak and all teh freoncame out so your AC has no freon in it and it's emptythat is why your ac is Hot. but that's just my theory coudl be right could be wrong.

You definitely sprung a leak that you're gonna have to chase down. One biatch is that we prolly still have the R12 refrigerant, so even if you do find the leak, you'll need a conversion kit to be able to switch over to the newer R134. I see an AC repair shop in your future.

superz, you might try checking the wire/connector that goes to the AC compressor. Sounds like it might be loose or the insulation has worn thru somewhere and the wire is rubbing metal.
