Alternator.... Again?!?!
So I turn the car on, and all of a sudden it makes this static sound when im pushing the brake down, or the accelerator, and my volts dropped to 12 instead of the normal 14. Then like 2 minutes later it was normal. I replaced the alternator with about 6-8 months ago, and replaced the battery as well. I dont remember if the static sound was an issue, but I do remember at one time it was making a static thing. What do you guys think?

Static Sound??? Do You Have A Stereo With Any Amplifiers???? If Soo You Will Get That Noise If You Have The Power Wire Anywhere Close To Any Other Wire (rcas, Speaker Wire, Ect).. Meanin Re Route The Power Wire On The Other Side Of The Car

how about this?
where is the sound emanating from?
speakers or other source?
if it's the speakers and you don't have a system, stock amps r going out most likely.
if it's emanating from different source then you've got real problems lol

Make sure and have it tested before buying another one. You might have a short somewhere. And................. if you bought one of those cheapo lifetime guarantee ones, they're guaranteed to have to be pulled back out soon after installation..... I buy the cheapo ones too, but it's a crap shoot whether you get a good one or not.

ya know, it IS possible to rebuild an alternator. just take the alternator apart, check the internal connections and actually clean off the brushes, you can even check the gap between the contacts and the brushes to see if it is within spec. It'll save you some money if you really need it.
Holy HS auto crap.....how cheap

The first alternator I bought, I got used off ebay like a year ago. Put it in, and it worked, then it stopped charging at 14, so i told the guy it was busted. He then sent me back my money.
I then check the connections and it was a faulty connection, therefore the alternator cost me nothing.
I just bought a remanufactured one.
Ill be taking out the old one in a little bit.
End of story.
Thanks for the replies.
