alternator maybe?
Ok well i have a question this may seem like a dumb question but i just dont know for sure...check this out...the other day i was driving my z and i was going up a hill and it started hesitating (push down gas and car would not accelerate) and the lights on my gauges all lit up (hicas, battery, ect.) so i pulled over and my car died..i tried to restart it but i did not even turn over..well i looked at my battery and my battery was leaking some acid or water or whatever from it so i bought a new battery and the problem was fixed..well i drove it the next day for a while and then that night it did it again with the new battery..except i found out that when i turn off my head lights it runs better and doesn't die but once i turn on the headlights again it does it again..and now my battery is completely dead...there is also corrossion on the battery terminals so i thought that that might be it but i dont know i think it might be the alternator...is that what it sounds like to you guys? sorry for the long post i just wanted to give all the info...Thanks

You definitely describe the symptoms of a bad alternator. You should remove it and have it checked, usually for free, at an auto parts store. If your battery cables are old, I'd replace them first and check all of the other main electrical connections. Especially the grounds.
One bit of info ....... The last time that I thought that I had a bad alternator, with the exact same symptoms that you describe, I went to remove it and looked at the wires connecting to the alternator and noticed some corrosion. After I cleaned up the connections the alternator worked fine until I sold the car 50k miles later. Although it was a Ford, that alternator lasted 12 years and 270,000 miles.

Also check the main grounding point located behond the battery. That's where the negative cable from the battery is attached to the firewall. You need to remove the battery to get to it. It's probably corroded as well. A grounding net would probably be a wise invetment. Since I placed it on my car, I have had virtually no buildup on the battery terminals.
