Anti-Lock Brake Issue

Anti-Lock Brake Issue
So.............. Usually, when I start up in the morning and back down my driveway, as I brake backing down the hill, the anti-lock brake pump, or whatever, will turn on and build pressure.
Today, it did the usual, but the pump kept running and running and running. Then the dash light came on. I thought WTF. I turned off the engine and removed the key and the pump kept running. It wouldn't stop until I disconnected the battery.
After I reconnected the battery the pump was off. I backed it down the driveway and everything seemed fine.
I didn't take the time at 4:am to read up on this in the manual. I just took another car to work. My thoughts are that maybe the front pads/rotors are worn enough to cause this. Or there is a Anti-Lock Brake resovoir somewhere that is low. I know that I can get codes off of the Anti-Lock Brake ECU, but they might have been erased when I disconnected the battery cable.
So, before I dig too deep into this, has anyone had this problem before?
Any wisdom here?

After reading the manual and thinking about it, considering the ABS pump motor wouldn't turn off even after I removed the key from the ignition, I'm thinking it's the relay. That's the first thing I'll put the multimeter to.
