Automatic vs 5 speed

Automatic vs 5 speed
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to swap the automatic in my '90 NA Z for a 5 speed? And if possible, any idea how much it will cost?
My trans is making very unpleasant noises and from my experience will not last long. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Johann

it is possible
as for cost that will depend greatly on your transmission of choice
but you will need a pedal assembly, a flywheel for a manual, a clutch and pressure plate, a slave cylinder, Master cylinder, and the hydraulic line to operate it.
and that could set you back about $450.00 - 500.00 new
transmissions run a big price range from near free to $3000.00
new for some 6 speeds but sticks are more fun and if you do some junkyard grunt work you can knock a lot of the cost down
good luck and try www.hybridz.org they have many crafty people over there who are not afraid of challenges

Rick,
Thanks for the fast reply and advice. I figured it would be possible from what I have done in the past with other cars. I have an '86 NA Z with a good 5 speed and recent clutch. Do you know if it would fit the '90 Z?
If it will, that will save me a bundle since I would only have to buy a few parts to do the swap.
Thank you,
Johann

I dont know about the input shaft but
if the flywheel on the 86 bolts up to the crank and it should
you will be in buisness if you have a full donor car close it should go well and save you a ton esp if the driveline was good in that car all the parts are mated
the pedal/ master cylinder install should be the trickiest part
