Changing the fluids??
Yo everyone,
I just recently bought a 91 TT. It has a lil under 36,000 miles. I wanted to know what oil to use for oil changes. The guy before me said he had it changed at a shop with whatever was recommended. Plus I want to put in a better trans(manual) fluid and differential fliud. There aren't any problems, but just wanted a better quality lubricant. Was wondering what is the best. I read Mobil 1 is good for the engine, Redline MT-90 is good for the trans, and a 75w-90 for the differential. I really didn't look around for a good coolant, if you could suggest that too. If you guys could let me know which one works best for the Z or have any other suggestions. Thanks
James

Using a good synthetic oil will probably be sufficient.
Most important thing though is probably to change the oil on time and make sure to cool off your turbos after hard running by idling for a minute or two before turning off your car.
You could also use a turbo timer which would do it for you after you have already shut off the car and left.

Mobil One is what a good majority of Z owners use. Unless you have the money to blow on REDLINE oil. The MT-90 is usually good for the tranny, although most ppl use it only if your grinding or if you know its goin bad. Slick 50 or a synthetic is a good substitute as well. For the diff, you can use the same Slick 50/synthetic. As for the coolant, what ever you want to use just be sure you use a 50/50 mix or you can add REDLINE's water wetter as well. Cool? Kool.

Redline, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil 1, all good reviews...
I'm using:
Royal Purple - Max Gear oil for both
the tranny and diff. Shifts much smoother.
I've also added Purple Ice (Water Wetter by Redline).
My car runs cooler.
So, I'm smoother and cooler.

I have used castrol syntec on all of my cars and will never use anything else, I also mix in a quart of MMO, works great. The best coolant I have ever seen or used is Jaguar coolant (not the car), its a brand that is really dark green and works very well but is also a pretty penny.
