converting km to miles

I have a 90 tt turbo that i recieved from a cousin in canada. I swapped clusters buy now i am not sure what to do to change the odometer from reading in km to miles. I am assuming that i would have to change the chip. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You swapped clusters?
From Canadian to Canadian?
Speed is speed, man. Whether it reads km or mph, you're going the same speed.
Swap in a US cluster, or get new Gauges. Overlays or otherwise.

no, i swapped canadian to american, but the odometer reads in km not miles. another words when i drive a mile the odometer reads 1.6 km. all the gauges are in mph, the odometer calculates km not miles. hope this clears things up.

Naw, messing with the odometer is usually an offense, Unless you plan on keeping the car to yourself. Then I suppose you can replace it.

I'm in Canada and bought a US car, so I have the opposite issue. I have everything in miles. You just kinda forget about it and get used to it.

Look at the bright side...everytime you look down you can say damn! I'm getting great gas mileage!

I here ya! I've never pulled my gauge cluster apart to see exactly how its all hooked up and what its hooked up to. Sorry.

Rizz is the resident expert. If its possible to do, I'm sure he'll figure it out.
Sorry to put the pressure on you Rizz.

Why would you "change clips"?... I'm not too sure what you mean there. I could find out for you easily man, I work for a company that imports JDM cars to US, so we have to do all the conversion's and what-not. I'll make some calls.

For the climate controls, you have to change over to a us spec climate control computer. As for odometer, I'm still inquiring and researching. Results pending......

In my personal opinion i would just say screw it. If it's not broken don't fix it. It's not worth the time or the money to transfer it over when it really won't help you in, other than when you look down you'll say oh look I have this many miles on my car. It'll cost you a lot less to just deal with it.

I've gotten some info.
I'm kinda skeptical but some have suggested that maybe the speed sensor in the tranny might need to be swapped out to a U.S. unit. I'm thinkin that the odometer won't be affected by a speed sensor since it doesn't record speed but distance. It's worth a try. I'll have to wait to see if I get anymore info.

Maybe its not worth the hassle. I appreciate you looking into it for me. I would however like to get the climate control changed... any idea where i can get the us spec computer.?

Junk yard... But then you run into problems.

Non-USDM ECU/M's are set for high impedance* applications... USDM are Low impedance, if you mix the two, it can only cause trouble! Or what computer are you speaking of?

-----------------
Impedance=resistance

Just leave it. Then sell the car with really really low miles.
