cooling system

i was looking at buying a '89 TT z32 from japan. everything seemed pretty good on it, nice body, leather interior etc, except for the brakes feeling a bit soft (does anyone know if they get air in the lines or have problems with the master cylinders etc?) and it was overheating and there appeared to be coolant leaking down from under the front left bar (from radiatior overflow maybe?) can anyone tell me if heating probs with these are very common or fairly easy to fix?

cheers.

Overheating is fairly common in these cars, but can be fixed.

Unless you have a leak somewhere, then there isnt anywhere air can get in. To bleed the brakes, you will need to people. You'll need someone under the car, so break out the jack and jack stands. Have one person lie under the car with a 8mm wrench think. Begin with the furthest wheel from the master cylinder. The left rear. Unless the JAP car is RHD, then you'll start on the right rear Top off the fluid, then have your buddy pump the barkes 8-10 times (FULL STROKES) and hold it to the floor. Then the person under the car is to open the bleeder screw on the caliper. Fluid is going to come out..so dont be alarmed. You will need to repeat this process amny times until you get all the air out or fresh fluid one. You'll know when your gettin air when the fluid isnt coming out in a even stream. After the fluid has stopped coming out, tighten the screw back up and tell your buddy to either relax or start pumpin again. A tip is to find some clear plastic hose to put on the bleeder valve. There you will have less of a mess, and will be able to keep an eye on the air and brake fluid coming out. Once your satisfied, you will then need to move to the the right rear (or left depending on which side the master cy,inder is on). Repeat the same previous steps again. BE SURE TO WATCH YOUR FLUID LEVELS<if they get to low, then you'll have to do it all over again.
About you radiator though, you may have abusted radiator. My neck on the top side where the hose slips on craked and leaked from there. You can upgrade the coolin system pretty easily, a quick fix would be to find a high pressre radiator cap. NISMO, HKS, etc make them. By adding this partm you'll raise the pressure in the cooling system thus lowering the boiling point of the fluid. Koyo, HOWE, greddy, HKS, JUN, ARC, nismo all make larger radiators for the Z32 to. Another thing to consider si a lower radiator hard pipe. I dunno your driving habits, but these cars are notorious about collapsing the lower radiator hose when pushed at high speeds for a prolonged duration. The hose gets flimsy and closes in on itself.

Buy 4 speed bleeders and make your life easier. They allow you to bleed the brakes on your own without the use of an assistant.
