custom intake

hey everyone it's me again with my 21 questions...lol, well i was doing some general maintance on my z last weekend and i was looking at my stillen intake system and i started having ideas to do on my z. what i wanted to do was to get a jwt dual pop charger because i have a lag on the first 2 gears on my car and i believe that is because of my intake (which is also behind my lisence plate) so i wanted to know if it will actually have less performance of i get a dual intake instead of a single. realistically it should increase my performace, but i also wanted to know if i get it will i need to custom fabricate an intake hose to go to the throttle bodies? and if i do will it be better to cross flow the intake? also if i do that i wanted to get upgraded throttle bodies, newer style upper/lower plenums, newer style fuel system with tt injectors, will i benefit more if i do everything like that??

:::sigh:::

Dual pop will NOT fix your problem.

Custom dual pop (assumed from your thread title) WILL create more problems.

Furthermore, it will IDEALLY (not realistically) increase your performance, but it will REALISTICALLY decrease your performance due to turbulence problems and metering problems. Only high horsepower (meaning aftermarket turbo) Z32s benefit from dual intakes.

Why the hell would you cross flow the intake?

There is no performance benefit to the newer style plenums and injectors, only less issues with ethanol content in gasoline.

Upgraded throttle bodies are generally useless without increasing the diameter of your entire intake system.

Do some damn research... even a little bit of it would've told you these are all (with the exception of newer style injectors) pointless ideas. And any researching on Dual Pop would've told you the complexities of such a system - dual MAF's + splicing into AFC, or chip replacement with 1 MAF, etc.

Sorry if I'm bitter, but I can't stand it when people ask questions that they could easily answer themselves. Do you also go into the library and ask people to answer your questions rather than looking for your answers?

dual pop is completely pointless on an n/a. and your "lag" is probably because you dont have that much hp, or theres an engine problem

what are your symptoms? any stuttering, stalling? is it weak down low, and then just picks up a lot at a certain rpm? how does it idle?

there's plenty of threads that deal with hesitation.

yes on the first gear it goes somewhat slow until i hit about 3000rpm than it kicks, when i shift into second it is a fast as first after 3000rpm, the last 3 gears to me seam a little slow but it is still faster than my 2002 kia spectra that i had....the only think i can think about is my ecu is stocked as well as the pulleys but i have stillen intake, gutted cat-back (no pre-cats), flow master exhaust and headers. i believe that the lisense plate is whats causing the lag in the lower rpm range but i also believe that i will get quicker response when i do the underdrive pullies, electric fans, and the ecu.....so what do you think b300z

I personally don't think it's your license plate causing problems

correct.

you lost some low end torque with the headers, but not enough to cause a very noticeable difference in power.

as rizz said, you should search for hesitation threads, and read thru the links inside of them. if you havent yet, i would suggest running seafoam.

response will go up with those mods, but dont expect a lot of hp/tq gains from them.

most hp/tq gains on the NA don't tend to be at the lower end of the powerband. ever.
