dead injector

Just a little update here.
car was purchased on 10/27/08.
purchased a brand new set of 18" 350z wheels with brand new tires 10/28(installed 11/04).
ordered new kyb agx struts and eibach pro kit 10/29(not yet installed).
new fuel pressure regulator 10/29 (installed 10/29).
window tint 11/01
low beam 6000k Hid kit 11/04 (not yet installed).
oil change with k&n filter and mobil 1 Syn 11/06.

11/07 car starts to hesitate in the lower rpm range. Did the power of balance test to find that cylinder number 3 is not firing. coil packs ohmed at 1.0 ohm (should be .7 but I think my ohm meter doesn't go that low since it is intended for home use and can measure up to 20000 ohms )

then when i tested the injectors. 1,2,4,5 were around 13 ohms. cylinder 6 was 20 ohms and no reading on cylinder number 3. So it sounds to me I need new injectors.

I do not plan on making monster power. intake, ecu and a full turbo back exhaust, and then a professional tune with those mods.

I know z1, coz and courtesy sell stock injectors for $140 a piece. O think that is too much for 370cc injectors. I have found these http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...U42-18116.html . What do you guys think?

Sorry for the novel

it does seem like too much, but that's just how much they are. go OEM wherever possible. they are expensive, but you won't need to buy them again.

ive never had much luck with remans as far as injectors go get upgraded ones like nismo 555 or oem if you dont think you'll ever make use of the larger injectors.

thats the thing i don't think i will get any use out of the 555's. There are a few ppl that are selling their used tt injectors i might pick up. Where can I go to get them flow matched?

No matter what, if you have the early style injectors they are always going to fail. I'd recommend converting to newer style injectors with 300degree rails over all else. Next, I'd recommend OEM injectors. Anything cheaper is asking for failure with ethanol in the fuel.

but I am looking at 450 for the rail and then another 700 for the injectors. I was not trying to sink that much money into it, but I just might.

rc injectors service doesn't sound too bad. it's $29 per injector. it looks like my best route might be new injectors

you aren't looking at 700 for new injectors. 6 $140 injectors come to 850. if you really get them for that much. they generally turn out to be $1000.

what is better about the upgraded fuel rail?

Without the fuel rail, you would need to machine the lower intake plenum in order to accept the newer-style fuel injectors, and you'd also need a newer fuel rail. (It also handle pressure better, but that's not important on most Z32's where huge power isn't a goal.) The 300Degree rail kills two birds with one stone - accepts the newer injectors and allows them to fit in the unmodified plenum.

And you can try the service, but I promise you that you will continue to have injector failure with the old-style injectors. I've had 1 fail every year for the past 4 years. I had 3 fail at once when ethanol was first introduced into the gasoline. I kept telling myself that I'd do everything necessary to fight the adverse affects of ethanol... there is not enough you can do. I wish I had converted 5 years ago when I switched to 555's.

thanks B

I think I am actually going to go this route and retune my ecu. it upgrades my injectors to the new style, so i have nothing to worry about. they can get tuned for my current setup and if i go a little bigger they will sill work
