detonation sensor

Hey Guys

Got detonation sensor code and correct me if I'm wrong, it's the 2 wire conector near the firewall. The wire from the harness end is busted off. Any tricks to get around it?

Thx

Mo

No, replace the connector. That is the way it should be repaired.

no tricks, this isn't a magic show.
seems like a simple repair, why don't you wanna fix it?
either you fix it or you don't, there's no tricks to it.

you also might want to check and see if its the wiring or the detonation sensor.

then fix ... note there is a ghetto way to bypass the detonation sensor but you could cause serious damage to your engine by doing so

Thanks guys..I had check the work around on angelfire before I posted. The prior owner had cut one of the wires on the connector. HAd no problems until now. It's my understanding the sensor replacement and wiring requires engine removal which to me is not an easy fix. I would like to fix properly. Thanks for the suggestions

Well I would suggest you relocate the sensor. Unless you have $1500 to throw towards the dealer. How you ask...I say try searching the posts here and you will get all the answers you need..

It doesn't require engine removal. The upper and lower plenums do need to come off, which might actually be harder than removing the engine. .... that is from what I've read. If mine goes bad, it'll either get bypassed or relocated until a time that the plenum needs to come of for other things.

I've been in a Z that had the det. sensor bypassed, and the detnotation is obvious when accelerating hard. You just need to be aware of it and drive in a way that prevents it.
