Is a kit for about $40 bucks really worth a couple of hundred dollar fine $$$$? Plus the time and energy it takes to put the egr by-pass kit on. That alone is gonna suck. I know I ve seen another kit else where though.

http://www.300degree.com/hard_parts/egrkit/

this site has some cool stuff..like ur egr bypass kit and their din panel

No it will not harm your engine as far as i know but what it will harm is your emissions scores. Unless you live in an emissions free state you will never pass emissions tests. I belive the EGR system is the one polution system you have to keep on your Z in order for it to pass the normal 50 state emissions tests. (minus CA of course)

If installing this bypass kit is the only reason you have to dis-assemble your car to that point then it is not worth it. The rough idle is probably caused by something else. You won't notice the extra room in the engine compartment.

If your car is tuned and running right, you will pass WITHOUT the egr just fine.

Yes, unless u have VERY nimble fingers and alot of patience. U have to pull the upper plenum off, and that is a job in itself. If u want to do it. I would wait until u have to do some other stuff. Like having the plenum extrude honed, elimintaing the water lines, or addin cams. Its not fun to pull the plenum off. It'll take u a good few hours just to get to the point where u can get to the egr.

You have to remove the lower plenum also.

Once you have done it once, taking off the plenum takes about 45 min. to an hour. It takes a little longer to put it back on only because you have to torque the plenum properly, and a few of the coolant lines and PCV hose is a PITA to get at.
I think if you have ample time, it would be a good idea to take it off just to learn more about your motor, etc Also a good time to replace coolant lines under there, fuel line connecting fuel rails, etc

The upper plenum is quite easy. The lower plenum on the other hand, is not, at all.
