about 2 weeks ago and yesterday my z engine cut off on me. first time was when i cranked it up and pulled up to exit a parking lot. the second time when i cranked it up and began to bag out of my drive way. both incidents were with in 10 seconds of crank up. both were at very slow speeds. both may have happened just as a pressed the gas to move the car. any help?????

gamemannn,
Any other info you could offer to help?
Did you done any work on the car to coincide with when this started?
Has it only happened the two isolated times? Anything else you feel wrong with the car right now...misses, hesitation, etc?
It sounds like it could be a number of things including a vacuum leak somewhere. I had a similar situation last summer. It took me a week to find a hair line crake in a vacuum hose. I actually had to wait for the problem to get worse just to find it. Replaced the hose and all was good after that.

i don't know. i recently taped the secondary little red key release button down that's on the ignition above the external key release button. i did it because it was preventing me from getting my key out. could this be a problem? also where is the vacum hose???

i also hear a slushing gurglish sound (excuse the description) some times when i'm accelerating. i hear just in front of the dash; like it's come from a hose inches away on the other side of the firewall. it sounds like it could be fluid trying to get through a hose or lack of fluid going through the hose. aid???

tell us more.........

does it idle smoothly before it dies?
does is start right back up after it dies?
does it run rough after it starts back up?
if you start it cold and let it idle a minute or so before driving, does it die?
do you smell raw fuel after you re-start it?
does it only do it when it's freezing out?

It's not likely the tape on the switch.

it starts cranks back up like nothing ever happened. it wasn't cold when it cut off. it idles and runs fine before it cuts off. i don't remember smelling anything at those particular times. but i do occationally smell what might be coolant. i had some trouble from a torn heater hose few weeks ago. my car does run rough sometimes. like when it's cool or cold and it's been parked for maybe 12 hours or so. not sure if all of this can be tied together, but that's what i know.

First, I would check and clean all of your electrical connections, especially in the ignition circuit. ecu - ptu - coil packs.

On the girgling / coolant smell, if you haven't recently, start with a new radiator cap.

The gurgling is probably coolant circulating through the heater core. Or, it could be your AIV's.

From the sounds of it. Some attention to the coolant sensor would be wise. Clean the connection as stated. If it looks bad (clip broken, etc), spend the $20 to replace it and consider replacing the harness for it (I believe its another $15). If its not connecting properly or the sensor is going, the ECU thinking something is wrong can cut the engine. I can stall a buddies car out by moving his connector.
