Engine question
mg: OK this guy that i know told me that he did research on my Z and he said that the VG30DETT is not a good motor to build (like lower end) because he said that it has only 4 main bearings on a V6 whereas most 4 cylnders have 5 so he was saying that it wouldn't be a very good motor to build..I didn't think that he was correct because i have always heard that the Z32 was a beast...well mine is..hahaha...so i dont see why they would have this beautiful, performance driven piece of machinery would have such a weak point like that...someone please tell me that he is wrong (dont just say it if you dont know) haha

it's no different than any four, six or eight cylinder engine. .... ie: one main bearing between every crank throw. each crank throw on a v6 or v8 has two piston rods attached. hence on a v6 - 4 main bearings and a v8 - 5 main bearings. an inline 4 car engine has 4 crank throws and 5 mains but they are much smaller bearings in size. Most motorcycle four cylinder engines, either in-line or "V" config have two crank throws and 3 main bearings.
Your friend is fooling you, or he doesn't really know.

Anyone who says the VG has a weak lower-end needs to get a swift kick in the head, because they're ignorant. Not meaning to down your acquantance, but seriously...
The cranks on the VG30DE/TT engine are machined so well stock, that the vast majority of the Auto-Crossers, and drag racers just leave them stock. The VG crank can handle some horsepower man. A lot of it too.
Lets see a 4 cylinder handle 600+ Horsepower on stock internals

...SR20... God, Im sick of how cliche its become. People that are under the asumption that you cant drift, without an SR20 under your bonnet. Someone, just the other day, was trying to tell me that they are going to drop an SR20 into their Z32 because otherwise it wont be able to drift properly... HAHAHAHA
Really though... Its an aluminum block engine, it cant handle all that much Horsepower with stock internals, no wheres near what the VG can handle (well its an Inline Four 2.0 litre, versus a V6 3.0 litre... thats a given kind of). Then again, I could be 100% wrong, so dont quote me on any of this, its just my little observation.
