Engine removal questions
I was wondering if it is possible to remove the engine without evacuating the AC system and the manual says to remove the transmission first if it's an automatic, is this true? can you just disconnect it and pull the engine alone if the tranny is supported?
I don't have a Z32 so I can't look in the engine bay.. but I am looking at a few and trying to weigh my options of what I can fix myself.

You can disconnect the compressor and leave it in the chassis - I always do.
You cannot pull the engine out without either removing the transmission or leaving it attached. No offense, but the fact that you have to ask this makes me think you might not be ready for this. The engine would have to come forward to disconnect from the trans (by design, the transmission's input shaft is inside the torque converter), but it could not come forward because of the motor mounts and other clearance issues. The only place the engine has to go is up, and it cannot go up until the trans is either removed or contorted to come with it. You have two options - either remove the transmission, or pull the engine and trans together. I highly recommend the former.

Like I said I don't have a Z. So how would I know? I've pulled engines before where all you needed was to unbolt the tranny then slide the engine forward, being I don't have a Z and haven't been under the hood, I don't know what I'm dealing with that's why I asked.
