Hey, ^^ i finally got my labree exhaust system in the mail today, dual rounds and a h-pipe. the end gaskets on the h-pipe look awkward, was wondering if its suppose to look like that ? this my first project on the z doing the work myself. ive got the basic idea down, and ill start putting it on this friday. anything i need to be aware of please let me know (advice and tips too) ive got a friend who's going to let me borrow the jack stands, so thats taken care of. here's pics.

grrr. Im jealous now... but enough about that. looking good they look fine to me. it's a pretty simple bolt on and off. just make sure U use the proppepr size sockets on the bolts and nuts. (metric) and clean them, out good. should be an easy job to do.

Nice...That flange is right. They're offset just a bit. Make sure you have new gaskets because there is no way to reuse the old ones if they've been on there for awhile. Is that the aluminized steel? Let us know how it sounds. I'd recommend putting the car up on jack stands the night before you do the work so that you can soak the old bolts with blaster spray and let it sit overnight. The bolts just past the cats tend to be a PITA. Discard the OEM heatshields. They won't fit over the test pipes

b300z - i believe those are resonators, someone correct me if im wrong
91zxtt - yea, specialty-z included new gaskets with it. and yes, the h-pipe is aluminized steel. any major difference between the ss one ?

The difference is longevity. The stainless ones will last longer. On an N/A it shouldn't be a problem. The TT's generate more condensation in the exhaust; which causes the exhaust sytem to rot out faster.

The resonators are in the h-pipe. The exhaust tips have a mesh material inside. I don't know why.

If that's the Sebring system, i'm guessing the mesh is for noise.

Looks nice man! That's probably the exhaust I would get if mine didn't already have the Genie installed.

Let me know how LOUD they are on your NA, ok? Mine bolted right up, and if you haven't started, get some PBlaster penetrating oil and soak your bolts.

I know that those flanges are correct, b/c the wouldn't fit my 96 - they're reversed on the 96.

sounds like a good setup... how much do u think this should run me $$$?
sounds like header install is a bitch to do, so should i have a shop do it for me?
i also wanted to ask what downpipes are for; are they legal?

this is what U have. (on a tt) mannifold -> turbo -> downpipe -> H pipe-> pre cat -> mufflers. from what I understand. and yes they are. when U upgrade to bigger down pipes it's like upgrading headers U know. as far as headers. if you are up to it do it your self. since the trany is comming out U might as well change the clutch fluid and transmition fluid. might wanna do the differential flud just because you are there already. if the O2 censors have not bin changed lately U might wanna change those too. my .02cents

theres a whole list of stuff you can replace while you are doing all of the exhaust stuff...
personally i would upgrade my clutch and flywheel and a one piece driveshaft at the same time so that all that stuff doesnt have to come off again. but, the problem is then you are digging deep in the pocket. i would also buy new o2s
headers 329
high flow cats 485
test pipes i think are 375 maybe
sebring exhaust around 750...depends on if you get x or h pipe and resonators

ive memorized all of those prices

downpipes are only for TTZs

rizz has a link to a write up for installing headers on his link page. doesnt look fun

since i have an auto, i dont have to worry about upgrading my clutch... is there a specific brand of o2's to buy, or just stock ones?

ok, so heres what i understand:

Headers: AMZ Type 2
Cats: SpecialtyZ High-Flow
Exhaust: SpecialtyZ Sebring X-Pipe W/ Resonators
o2sensor: Bosch
One piece driveshaft: maybe?

am i missing anything? i decided to go with cats instead of test pipes cuz i wanna keep it legal and all that good stuff...
ohh yea, if this all comes together right, then i will end up buying every b/c i was gonna spend $2,000 on a notebook computer for school, but decided to do this instead...
