ALL of your coils are bad? There really isn't a way around it. I believe you have to get the whole coil pack per cylinder (6). I'd make sure you know all of your coil packs are bad before spending that much money.

well i dont know all the coil packs are bad but a good friend of mine said it would be a really good idea to replace thema ll since they might all go soon, im pretty sure he knows how to test them but how should i go about testing them?

You don't need to replace them unless they're bad. There is a very simple way to check which ones are faulty. While the engine is running, unplug each coil pack one at a time. If the car starts running worse when you unplug a coil pack, then it's not that one and move onto the next one. If the car runs the same when you unplug a coil pack, then that's your culprit. Should take 10 minutes, tops. I've seen the coil packs on e-bay, but you're buying used ones then. You could try a salvage yard, but then you're buying used ones also. I can't imagine more than 1 or 2 going bad at the same time. These things don't really wear out. They could go 100k miles, or they could 500k miles. It's not like a timing belt that needs to be replaced every 60k.

With that test. be wary, as that is the same test for faulty injectors or something else. if the car's running bad and you think it's ignition related, replace the plugs first. Then if it's still running bad, and you do the test and realize one or more cylinder isn't running, it's either ignition or fuel related. good luck.

Or you could try the multimeter route.
Measure the resistance of all the coils. The good one should be similar in reading (ohms). The bad one will be way off from the others.

one problem with that unplug theory, it has to be under a load for it to start breaking down, somthing u cant do with it in neutral.

One good multimeter is cheaper that one or two coil packs. Did your friend check your coil packs with a multimeter? There's really only one way to know for sure if they're bad.

I'd try for 5 - 6 year newer coil packs out of a junkyard.
