honestly, I'd get the manual closest to the year of your car. Here's my philosophy...
The FSM is for the entire car, not just the engine. 94+ TT's (and all NA's) had a very different power steering system than 90-93 TT's (your info only talks about the front clip you have, not whether or not your car is a TT or NA to begin with). So if your car has the steerting system (HICAS) of a 90TT, you'll want an FSM for a 90-93 since it'll be closest to what you have.
The engine itself for the car changed very little from 90-95, so get the closest manual to your year with this too because the only really different engine is from 96, and you don't have to worry about that. Also there's the lack of the AIV system after a 93 (I think) which would make the 93+ have some different piping, all the more reason you'd want a manual that pertains to your car.
Honestly, considering the small chassis differences over the years, it'll be the most accurate to have the FSM that matches the year of your chassis, rather than just your engine (since like I said, the engine didn't change much over the years).
