Help please!!!

Hello eveyone,

I have just recently purchased a 1990 nissan 300zx tt and I haven't had a chance to really enjoy the vehicle. I have had all 6 fuel injectors changed however, I notice that the vehicle has a hard time starting. It will turnover but it takes awhile to actually start the car. What is the cause of this problem? Can it be a loose sensor or something?

I would really like to keep this car....its a classic and I have always been a huge nissan fan! Also, I currently live in the Inland Empire so if any of you know of a good mechanic..please let me know. Is it wise just to take it to the Nissan dealership? I'm sure that the price will be high, but the job would get done correctly the first time...right?

try this

If you have already replaced the fuel injectors, and it cranks over... try Spark plugs spark plug wires, repace ignition parts starting with the cheap ones you got a simple stupid problem dont give up on the car.

The car was running great when I purchased it about a two months ago. About a month ago, I was driving the car aggressively to work (was running a bit late) and noticed that my check engine light went on. Once I stopped at the intersection, my car felt like it was only running off of 5 cylinders. I though it could have been the spark plugs. I took it to a mechanic who is a friend of the family, and he said that it was my fuel injection! One of the fuel injectors was bad but he recommend that I change all of them. So i did, but the car still isn't running right. The car will start but it smells pretty bad, kinda like fuel. Do you think that its the fuel injectors? Were they properly replaced?

Thanks for the quick response!! I will change the spark plugs and wire.

Fuel Injection...help!

I just replaced all of my fuel injectors in my 90 z32, but I'm having a hard time to start the car (when the car is cold). But when it does start, white smoke comes out of the exhaust for a bit. It smells like fuel! Although when the car warms up....it drives fine. Can it be that the fuel injectors are installed wrong? Or does it take a little time for the fuel injectors to kick in?

Did you use new o-rings? If the o-rings were not replaced, they could be leaking. There is also a chance that the o-rings got pinched during installation and are not seated properly, resulting in the same issue.

Thanks for the quick response! I did not change the o-rings. How do you install them. Also, I have been in search for a repair manuel for my 90 z32 but can't seem to find one. Would you happen to know where I can get one?

The FSM for the 1990 (and 1991) model has been discontinued, but you can still get one for the other years. The 90 is the same, for all practical reasons, as the 92, so just get a 92 manual from Coz...

Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it.

If you'd rather go digital, Coutesy Nissan sells the Factory Service Manual for the 90 on a CD...

Probably a better route since you can just print out what you need for your project and not worry about getting it greasy.

As for the injector o-rings, there are 2 for each injectors. They go in the fuel rail and seal the injectors in them. If you didn't replace them, there's a good chance some might me missing, pinched, or bad, thus causing your problem. Hate to tell you, but you're basically gonna have to do all your injectors over again... here's a link to what you need.

my first suggestion, read my Link Page.
second, if you have a check engine light, find out what code the ecu is throwing. That'll clear up a lot of the problem as you'll narrow it down and know what to fix.
and since i know you didn't really do much with my first suggestion, here's the link on ecu diagnostics.

also fyi, the Z32 has no spark plug wires in the traditional sense.

plus, Moved to 300ZX (Z32) Performance / Technical

adding on to the plus, now that i've seen your other thread they're merged now as well.
