heat in interior
Ok this will be my last questionj about this new 90 n/a i just bought. There is a lot of heat coming from the center console in the car. Its almost unbearable. The guy i bought it off of said that he had the carpet replaced and they didn't put some kinda heat shield down, but i thnk thats a bunch of crap. I thought it may be an exhaust leak. The center console gets almost too hot too touch right by the driver and passenger legs. Any ideas??

time to sell the car
yup, its too bad, sounds like an otherwise nice car...
but seriously there are two rubber boots under the shift boot that need to make a good seal, if they don't you get lots of heat. If you put these two boots on you wont have to sell the car!!! congratz!

thanks Goof. I only paid 2500 for the car, so dumping a bit more into it won't be bad

Check for exhaust leaks. Is this car auto or manual? If it's auto, I wonder if the trans cooler is still connected and flowing properly. If it's manual (and maybe if it's auto), I wonder if the fluid level is low creating excess friction and heating up the trans, and thus the trans-well.
I'd say to get the car running to a point where the interior is hot, as you say, then get under the car and see where the heat is emanating from.
